I've done this at rehearsals and such, and it usually sounds pretty good.
The problem is that most consumer MD's don't have a digital out, so making a
CD from the recording isn't the best since you go a/d d/a a/d. I don't mind
the quality, but other people do. If you can get a MD in Japan, you might be
able to find it with an optical out.
this brings up a point. does anyone have a minidisc unit WITH a
digital out? I'm interested in getting a home unit, as I've amassed
quite a serious log of fields on md and like the idea of keeping
everything digital after the initial capture. i understand there are
few with optical in and out, even fewer with spdif in and out. any
models or recommendations (closeouts, especially) i should be on the
lookout for?.. -k
