Re: newbie questions: building experimental controllers
a few good links for those interested in building their own sensors and midi
controllers:
http://www.infusionsystems.com/
**Home of I-cube, which translates incoming voltage changes into MIDI
signals. they offer bend, pressure, light, rotation and other sensors.
expensive, but worth a browse.
http://www.steim.nl/sensor.html
**STEIM, in holland, has been developing their Sensor-Lab device for a few
years now. it works similar to i-cube by translating voltage into midi
messages. STEIM offers workshops and residencies to those interested in
exploring and producing tactile midi controllers, and a lot of innovative
instruments have come out of them.
http://devices.sapp.org/
**schematics and links for those interested in building their own
controllers, for use with analog devices, i-cube, sensor-lab, another
voltage-to-midi type converter, or (for those brave enough) a home-built
micro-controller system.
ok, not so "newbie", but inspiring i hope. at the very least, you'll think
twice before pecking away at another MIDI keyboard.
best,
derek
