RE: [microsound] new external sound "card" from soundblaster



for one they're not compatible across chipsets (VIA have the most problems,
pentium the least) and have known timing issues. Also, heavy USB activity
(audio) clogs up the PCI buss and can cause audio pops/clicks. USB can only
transmit information at 12Mbps. 

That said USB for just midi data is fine.

Firewire is the way forward.
