there are other bigger differences, namely with USB is host centric (ie. the
CPU must initiate every transaction [ bottleneck ]) Not so with Firewire, it
uses DMA.
It's also a bit master @ 400Mbps ... just a bit ;)
Wireless ethernet will become the way forward once it becomes faster.. it's
slower than USB at 11Mbps.

I think firewire is a temporary pipe that's just a bit fatter. Wireless
ethernet is the way forward.
