Each program will contain 2 of the following pieces:
Three dance monologues to Gavin Bryars "Jesus Blood
Never Failed Me Yet", choreographed by Gustavo
Ramirez. Performed by Chremos, Stallings, and
Zambrano.
Presented 2/1 and 2/3
?Quartets for Six? score by Michael Hartman,
choreography by Asimina Chremos Quartets for Six
combines all of the possible combinations of four from
six performers. The quartets last for 3 minutes and
are played successively in a randomly determined
order. With at least one member changing and one
member remaining the same in each quartet, the piece
creates a sonic and visual weave of sound and/or
motion. Performed by TVPOW, Chremos, Stallings, and
Zambrano.
Presented 2/2 and 2/3.
Inspired by the playwright David Mamet, that it is not
in words, but in silence, that human emotion is
conveyed, Lauri Stallings explores the still in the
moving, and the void within the text. With fellow
Hubbard St. dancer Geoff Meyers, the watcher will be
transported from screen to still life, moving life,
amidst this journey called "Mamet."
Presented on 1/31 and 2/1
?3-0-4? is a composite piece for three improvising
musicians, juxtaposing open improvisation with
portable pre-written cells. The piece was conceived
for electronics, ten-string table guitar, and any one
friend.
Performed by Braddock-Baker-Bruckman on 1/31, and
Braddock-Baker-Bryerton on 2/2.

Performers:
Jim Baker is a Chicago-based pianist, known equally
for his unique improvisations on the ARP synthesizer.
Baker has performed and recorded with Fred Andersen,
Ken Vandermark, Guillermo Gregorio, and countless
others.
Nathaniel Braddock is a Chicago-based composer and
guitar player and has performed and recorded with
Ancientgreeks, the Zincs, Ensemble Noamnesia,
Talullah, Joan of Arc, Jim Becker, Scott Rosenberg,
and numerous other improvising and rock music units.
He has presented many new works for dance with
choreographer Asimina Chremos, and produces a rich,
bell-like tone when struck.
Kyle Bruckman is a Chicago-based composer and
improviser, performing on double reeds and
electronics. He has performed works of Crumb, Ives,
Cardew, Cage, and Essl, and performs with Guillermo
Gregorio, Ensemble Noamnesia, EKG, and Lozenge.
Jerome Bryerton is a free improvising percussionist
who has worked with some of the most well respected
players in the world, including Wolfgang Fuchs, Damon
Smith, Carol Genetti, John Butcher, Henry Kaiser,
Peter Van Bergen, Jack Wright, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Jeb
Bishop, Burton Greene, and Alan Silva.
Asimina Chremos has been exploring ballet, modern
dance, and performance art for almost thirty years.
Her 1995 solo Bridle is discussed in the book Dancing
Women: Female Bodies on Stage, by Sally Banes. She
currently serves as Artistic Director for Links Hall:
Chicago's intimate home for independent dance and
performance.
Gustavo Ramirez first trained as a dancer and
choreographer in Barcelona before joining Compania
Victor Ullate in Madrid. He then worked with
Nederlands Dans Theatre2, and now is a company member
in Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. As a choreographer he
has won two national prizes in Europe: the Ricard
Moragas Prize in Barcelona, and The Don Perignon Prize
for the Hamburg Ballet Company. He has created
fifteen works for dance.
TV Pow is a trio of composers and free improvisers
Todd Carter, Michael Hartman, and Brent Gutzeit. They
employ samplers, percussion, invented instruments,
synthesizers, turntables, tape manipulation, computers
and multi-speaker surround-sound systems in a
constantly evolving soundscape of sparkling
electronics, ambient drones, minimalist techno, and
cinematic field recordings. Creating through live
performance something both new and recombinant, TV Pow
has toured throughout Japan, Europe, and the United
States.
Lauri Stallings is grateful to spend her time
exploring all the endless ways of moving through
space. Having spent the earlier part of her career
devoted to classical ballet, the Cleveland San Jose
Ballet, BalletMet, and Ballet British Columbia, she
finds the merging of all experiences a thorough
challenge. She is thankful to embark on this process
with Asimina and buddies. Lauri is in her second
season with Hubbard St. Dance Chicago
Mario Zambrano has danced with Hubbard Street Dance
Chicago for four years, then went to Holland and
joined Nederlands Dans Theatre2 for three years.
Zambrano then worked in Israel with Ohad Naharin in
Batsheva Dans Company. He returned to Chicago and to
the Hubbard Street Company this past August.
Rick Stallings is the technical director for this
program.
