Additional notes:

three very different tracks all made from three samples - main groove, one
of the verses
and the chorus all taken from Music.

Digital Music: PD program that maps the sample across the midi keyboard so
each key
has a couple of hundred milliseconds of sound or less. There are a number of
errors
in the program that I made no attempt to fix - no envelopes where used
either. The
resulting "instrument" was played to produce this track.

Ghost Horse: untouched by hand - six samplers (in pd) where set upl playing
the verse
at lightly different speeds. The resulting outputs where summed in different
combinations
and passed though resonant band pass filters to give the "found" rythym and
melody
that comprises this track. You can still hear bits of the original sample in
places.

Machines that make music: a single take "performance" on my granulator patch
against
each of the samples (ie, three instances of the patch open). When I listened
back to
it I realized I had covered a lot of the same ground so I chopped the end of
the recording
and over dubbed it over the second part.
