sound file player question

I believe this has been discussed before, but I am curious anew about 
programs that allow you to play more than 2 MP3s (or AIFFs) at the 
same time, and allow control over mixing and even effects. Most "DJ" 
apps I've seen are pretty limited to 2 sound sources, and I am not 
yet MAX/MSP savvy (yes, me primitive type). Ideas?

BTW, really enjoying Kurt Ralske's Amor.0+01 and the totally amazing
