Re: [microsound] events in san francisco feb. 10-13?

i'll be there for a few days, and would be grateful for recommendations from
the san francisco crowd (music, art, food, other).

ART: There will be a surrealist exhibition and a showing of recent work at the Palace of the Legion of Honor.

MUSIC: Aquarius Records on Valencia and Amoeba Music on Haight will help empty the wallet. 23filve.org might have some sound events during that time as well, but look to the web site for that. The wave organ down along the Marina Green makes a rather nice noise as do many things at the nearby Exploratorium, and Audium on Bush is worth a visit for its unique listening environment.

FOOD: The endless list, beginning perhaps with burritos at Can-Cun Tacqueria (Market or Mission), bun saday at San Sun (Stockton), roti at Tracy Garden (Judah), curry at Pakwan (Valencia), noodles at Osha (Geary), shui gao wonton at D&A (Clement), beers and spetzle at Suppenkuche (Hayes), ramen at Katanaya (Judah), dim sum at Yet Wah (Clement), sushi at Monkichi (California), breakfast at Home Plate (Lombard), pho at Golden Flower (Jackson), and of course tolsot bibimbap at Korea House (Post).

OTHER: Rent a bicycle and ride through Golden Gate Park out to the ocean. Whatever you do, avoid driving; SF is a walking city, and I find the experience of driving five minutes only to circle for twenty in search of parking one of the most unpleasant here. Rather than getting stuck in traffic, try a bus pass; you will not start to be sick of MUNI until you are near the end of your trip. When crossing the street, do look out for the giant SUVs driven by cellphone callers; these do not feature turn signals, transparent windshields, or brake pedals.
