MEDIA CITY: GENERAL INFORMATION

Media City is an annual international festival of experimental film and
video art held in Windsor, Ontario. The festival is a co-presention of
Artcite Inc., Windsor's centre for the contemporary arts, and House of
Toast, Windsor's film and video collective. The festival presents short,
new experimental film in 35mm, 16mm and Super-8mm, and video art in several
formats. Visiting artists from across Canada and around the world present
retrospective screenings with audience discussions. Media City also
presents live film/ video/ sound performances and off-site video and media
installations in art galleries and other spaces.

The eighth annual Media City (Media City 8) is Wednesday, February 13 to
Saturday, February 16, 2002.  Programs begin at 8:00 p.m nightly with two
programs each night (three on Saturday, 16th), plus gallery openings for
installations held prior to the screenings on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14,
plus late-night events, performances and parties every night.  Media City 8
will present more than 50 films, videos, installations and live

6:30 p.m. Opening reception at Artcite Inc. for installations:
The Precious Stone and Gold Factory (Adriana Arenas Ilian, USA/ Colombia,
2002); Magic (Icelandic Love Corporation, Iceland, 2002); recent works of
Siree van der Velde (Netherlands). Arenas Ilian and van der Velde in
attendance.

8:00 p.m. Special Program One:
Film ist. (7-12) (Gustav Deutsch, Austria, 35mm, 93:00, 2002). Introduction
and discussion with the filmmaker.

10:30 p.m. Special Program Two:
Mody Bleach (Christophe Auger, Étienne Caire, Vincent Epplay, Gaëlle
Rouard, Xavier Quérel, France, live 8 x 16mm + sound performance, ca.
60:00, 2001).

Late night at the Press Club: opening night party with sounds by Bernard
Helling (Windsor).

Drum Solo/ Solo de tambor (Liliana Porter, USA/Argentina, 16mm/video,

Images of Flying and Falling (Ariana Gerstein-McCollum, USA, 16mm/video,

Late night at the Amsterdam Lounge: Faceless Corporation presents ad
moiseam recording artists Tarmvred (Sweden) plus re:pro, Acclimate and
other acts. Tix $5 genral, $3 w. Media City Friday ticket stub, free for
