Re: [microsound] napster was a promotional service

Just thought I would take this opportunity to say hello as a new guy here on the list and to agree with you on the use of napster and now audiogalaxy. I spent more money during the napster days buying new music than I did before napster was around. It was a great promotional tool and this is the reason CD sales are down this year in my opinion.

Now for hello....
My name is Eric, I create ambient/dark ambient music with guitar as the only source instrument under the name True Colour Of Blood. I just released two albums one on the Italian electronic label Afe and one on the Polish label Soulworm Editions.
I am a huge fan of "microsound/minimalism" whatever term you want to use. I'm looking forward to some good discussion and of course finding out about more great music.

exactly! I thought I was the only one who used to do this...I would check
out all sorts of obscure music via napster and then buy it if I really
wanted it on CD...I used Napster a lot for research and for determining
what CD I ought to spend my money on...I bought more CD's when I used
napster than I do now...
