i always kept it with cecil taylor who adviced me some years ago in the words of billy holiday, "don't explain."
i was playing drums then and as there is still a difference now when i perform with a computer i have no problem with saying a sentence to the audience before i start playing or talking about my methods used in a composition i made in general.
