JOHN HUDAK:

John Hudak¹s performance will be based on the board game ³Go,² (Wei-Ch'i in
Chinese) considered by most Oriental game experts to be the worlds greatest
strategic skill game, far surpassing Chess in it's complexity and scope.
Wei-Ch'i means "surrounding game" or "surrounding chess" and the object is
simply to capture territory by placing stones on a game board.

Hudak's current sound work focuses on the minimal repetition of sounds
below the usual threshold of hearing, sounds that are typically filtered out
or considered non-musical by a casual listener. These sounds are recorded,
deconstructed and processed, their rhythms and textures being the basis for
aural manipulations. His installation work has been exhibited at the Museum
of Contemporary Art (Lyon, France), Whitney Museum of American Art (New
York, NY), California College of Arts and Crafts (Oakland, CA) and many
others. His music has been released by recording labels all over the world.
He is also very active in the creation of interactive web art. Visit
http://www.johnhudak.net for a list of links to his projects.

IF, BWANA:

Al Margolis has been recording and performing under the If, Bwana name since
1984. A guitar player by training, he drifted into electronics/sound by
chance and by an overriding interest in things unusual. He describes the If,
Bwana project as sound finger painting, sometimes alone and sometimes with
the services of others. A sound canvas is stretched, covered, built upon,
and then let loose upon the world." Recordings have included works for
processed flutes, voices, and animals. For this evening's ICA performance,
Mr. Margolis will present a new piece for tapes and film. See
http://www.pogus.com for further information.

INTRANSITIVE RECORDINGS is a Boston-based label publishing electronic and
improvised music by artists from all over the world, actively promoting
sound events in the Boston/Cambridge area for three years.
