Seeking sensor building advice..

hi all, 

I'm pretty new to this list. I'm in the process of developing my own midi control interface for performance purposes and I was curious if anyone here has exp. with such a thing. I am using a PAIA electronics midi brain and I've also got a hacked Roland electronic drumbrain I'm playing with. Eventually I'd like to design some kind of suite to wear.

I'm really looking to chat with people who've toyed with home-made sensors. I've made some decent ones out of peizo elements -discs and film, but lastnight I was drooling over http://www.tactex.com/

any sensor building stories or advice greatly appreciated :-)
