I realize this is an old thread but I am very very
slow.  You were talking about personal wearable music
broadcasting (mp3) devices, but I just found a great
book by the composer Tom Johnson called Personal
Pieces which are these situations for you to do alone
in your head with a piano (not a piano in your head a
real one, though a midi keyboard or electric organ
would probably work too)
some are ridiculous some are serious.  no written
music.  you read text and play at the same time.  
they make for a couple of great evenings (for the
dreary-eyed/lonely) and its better than a recording
cus your playing it
