well, maybe he just likes things to sound good on his stereo? if you listen to his own albums, they're frickin rocking. he gets some of the most full and tight low end sounds ive heard in a long time. i was listening to soul center 3 the other day in my car and i swear my car was hitting the bass twice as hard as normal, not to mention, the funk meter was at 11. anyways, if anyone remember the early history of brinkmann, he was working with cutting rhythms into vinyl, so i dont know that he's the audio elitist that hes getting painted out to be. even if he is who cares? i guess i qualify as an audio snob too then, since i dont feel like ive even heard the music until theyve been on my sennheiser hd580's.

yes, Andrey, i read the article too, makes Brinkmann sound like a disgusting
snob :)

it says he got some super-duper stereo-system custom built for him ,and now
proclaims any music  not done on good speakers lacks soul and dimension and
whatnot

I think we will all agree that good equipment is important, but saying you
can't make good music without it, is like saying you can't draw a
masterpiece with only a pencil....
( is this a relevant comparison ?)

the problem (for me) i stuck on was - if you can't allow yourself a good 
mastering (your music is flat as a result), why to be pretentious, and show
it to the public...
