p l a y g r o u n d - garage 02 is searching for artists' concepts and
positions on the discussion of the principles and mechanisms of games.
Play with conventions, play as interaction, play as a manipulation of
perception, play as critical reflection, playing in networks, play as a
strategy for action, play as experimentation, public playground.
p l a y g r o u n d presents exhibitions, concerts, screenings and
discussions.

garage understands itself as a platform for contemporary art and culture.
Since six years the festival has been a realm for experiments for
new concepts of production, presentation and discussions of cultural
content. Every year in August artists, musicians and theorists are
invited to Stralsund to realise projects within a relevant topic.
With our work we consciously confront the local social problems and
cultural vacancies. To explore the role of art and culture within the
social context, to disclose herein tasks and possibilities, to look
behind positions and expectations, is subject of our work. garage
wants to enrich the cultural landscape of the region, reveal
potential and demand and support art projects especially of the
younger generation.

p l a y g r o u n d - garage 02 sucht nach Ansaetzen und Positionen zur
kuenstlerischen Auseinandersetzung mit den Prinzipien und Mechanismen des
Spiels.
Spiel mit Konventionen, Spiel als Interaktion, Spiel als Manipulation von
Wahrnehmung, Spiel als kritische Reflexion. Spielen in Netzwerken, Spiel als
Handlungsstrategie, Spiel als Experiment, oeffentlicher Raum als Spielfeld.
p l a y g r o u n d praesentiert Ausstellungen, Konzerte, Screenings und

garage versteht sich als Plattform fuer zeitgenoessische Kunst und Kultur. Das
1997 gegruendete Festival ist Experimentierfeld fuer neue Ansaetze in
Produktion, Praesentation und Diskussion kultureller Inhalte. Jaehrlich im
August werden Kuenstler, Musiker und Theoretiker aus dem In- und Ausland
eingeladen, sich mit einem aktuellen Thema auseinanderzusetzen. Wesentlicher
Punkt dabei ist die bewusste Auseinandersetzung mit der sozialen Problematik
und den kulturellen Leerstellen vor Ort. garage will modellhaft kulturelles
Geschehen in der Region bereichern, Potentiale erschliessen und hierbei
besonders junge Kunst der eigenen Generation fordern und foerdern.
