cornucopia - "vibroacustica" cd = sound/statement/politics/content

hello microsound,

i have recently noticed topics about politics in music around here. so i 
thought i'd plug a cd we did some time ago, called "Vibroacústica" which is 
non vocal sound piece that we believe DOES have a political message and 
content.
vocals do help to get a message out, but sounds can express many things too. 
so we think.

Excerpt from booklet:
"For the past 61 years, the United States NAVY has made the tiny inhabited 
island of Vieques (Puerto Rico), ground zero for their military exercises. 
Studies made by Puertorican environmental organizations have determined that 
the naval forces have used everything from Uranium to the dreaded Agent 
Orange in their live ammunition, therefore poisoning all life at sea, which 
'Viequenses', who are mostly fishermen, use to feed their families and sell 
to the mainland.

The deafening noise waves made by these bombing "exercises", have caused 
many Vieques residents to develop an illness known as "Vibro-Acustica", 
which affects the immune, gastrointestinal, neurological, cardiovascular and 
respiratory systems as well as the persons' behaviour. It is aquired after 
several years of exposure to these loud noises.

This record is a direct reaction to the arrogance of military leaders and 
the US government, plus it is a show of support for those who are fighting, 
non-violently, to finally get the NAVY out of the island of Vieques.

The recording itself consists of analog synth manipulations, digital 
processing and location recordings of the coasts of Puerto Rico..."

etc.

as you see, this is a touchy situation, as both members of cornucopia 
currently live and work in the island of Puerto Rico. so we thought we 
should 'say' something about this. and do it in a microsound/glitch whatever 
- sound context. it is even more difficult to talk about since the whole 
september thing, which has made heroes out of the military and traitors out 
of anyone who dares to say anything against them...

we were recently interviewed in lenght about it by Chronoplastics during our 
visit to new york on the american tour. we do not know when the interview 
will come out.
