This Thursday night (July 11, 2002) at 8pm, please come out to the Museum of
Contemporary Art, Denver, for a sampling of new electronic sounds from
em.chia, recor and the pHarmanaut!

:: ATY2 :: FEATURING :: em.chia :: recor :: the pHarmanaut ::
em.chia is the project of Matt Chiabotti. em.chia's recent work explores the
Internet browser and its array of media plug-ins as live DJ tools, with Matt
turning directly to the ethereal bitstream of webcasts and embedded sound
files for his sources. em.chia's "Picture White Burning" -- lush, electric
microcosms of sound built from second-long samples -- was released in
January 2002 on The Communications of Tomorrow label.
recor is the ambient tape-loop sequencing project of Tyler Potts. recor's
melodic sequences, minimal keyboard improvisations, and atmospheric layers
combine to create an experience of rich textures, surprise transitions, and
nostalgic lofi. Tyler's earlier work, "CASI PT: Sit In for AJ," is a set of
8 tracks to be released this summer on The Communications of Tomorrow label.
the pHarmanaut is Trace Reddell's post-turntablist project, digital remixes
from a variety of sources with '60s punkadelic undercurrents, bursts of
glitch, and retro-science space rock. The pHarmanaut's recent releases
include contributions to Kim Cascone's Bufferfuct project (a co-production
of the .microsound list and STEIM, Amsterdam's independent Studio for
Electro-Instrumental Music), Jeremy Welsh's 20 02 2002: The International
Day of Time-Specific Art exhibit (Kunstnett Norge / Artnet Norway), and the
..microsound McDonna remix project.
