Tuesday July 16th
The Ambient Ping presents:
dropfile and Pholde (Knurl)
Free
club nia / C'est What - 19 Church St. at Front St
(Toronto Canada)
doors open at 9pm - 1st set at 9:30

Matt Borghi will not be able to travel from Detroit to
perform this Tuesday so we're happy to be able to "drop" the very
cool new microsound/dub duo, dropfile, into the crowded Ping schedule
and present this intriguing double-bill of bowed steel soundsculptures
from Pholde and the two laptop manipulators of dropfile.

dropfile began as an abstract broken-beat dub microsound alter ego
for Neil Wiernik (aka naw) a little over a year ago. Neil has recently
been joined by the very talented Jakob Thiesen to complete the sound
and vision of the project. Their maiden performance together recently
took place at the OM festival as the two wooed the audience with their
own special brand of broken-beat dub-oriented abstract ambience.

Opening the night is Pholde, the ambient soundscape project of
Alan Bloor, who is also known for his extreme noise project, Knurl.
All of Alan's sounds are created from bowing and striking his unique
steel sculptures which are then treated through guitar effects pedals.
(Alan will have CDs available of some of his Pholde releases.)

4. clonk goes home...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its been a long time comming that clonk co founder Neil Wiernik return
home to Montreal. Well the time has now come. As of August 1st 2002 clonk
co founder and resident artist Neil Wiernik aka naw will be making
Montreal his clonky home. What does this all mean for clonk? Well it means
that our home base for clonk will be in Montreal. does this mean that
clonk events will no longer happen in Toronto? no clonk plans to continue
to be active in both cities, give us a few months to work out all the
finer details of things but in the near future both Toronto and Montreal
folks will have the pleasure of having clonk satalite events in thier home
town. we plan on expanding the collective base in order to keep things
running as smooth as they have been up to now. will Neil still have a hand
in how things function for the remote clonk events that take place in
toronto? yes being the only active founding member of clonk Neil plans on
keeping his hands in both pots and even possibly attend/play events in
both cites as much as possible. the curatorial menthods will still be the same
for choosing event line ups and supporting visual artists for each event
but will just take place remotely. just give us some time to get things
running properly so that we can make sure that we are able to provide you
the same quality of event that we have brought to you up untill now.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and we hope to see you all out at
one or more of these events over the next week...
