Re: [microsound] call for book lists
Douglas Kahn,1991, MIT press, "Noise-Water-Meat, A history of sound in the
arts: Nice chapter on the futurist and phonograph recording and much more.
Very well documented although I find it's a bit to much around Cage
philosophy.http://muse.jhu.edu/demo/cmj/25.1sobaskie01.html
François Delalande, "Le son des musiques, entre technologie et
esthétique",2001,INA/GRM: An amazing book retracing sounds in his musical
context, from pop to techno, from classical to electro-acoustics.
Jacques Attali, "Noise" New edition 2001: A very good book to understand
the economy of music through history of pop music and "serious" music.
Unfortunetly Attali don't cover the techno revolution and the new electronic
scene, too bad. But still it's interesting. GET THE NEW EDITION.

Parachute magazine #107, 2002: "Electrosons-Electrosounds": Very nice
article on the situation of the new electronic music, featuring a nice
article of Laptop music by Kim Cascone.

Pierre Schaeffer 1966, rev. 1977, du Seuil. "Le Traîté Des Objet Musciaux"
A very unperfect book but yet so illuminating. This book brings you the
philosophy of musique concrete, including the definition of the objet
sonore, l'écoute réduite and the complete sound typo-morphology philosophy.

present de Michel Gaillot, Jean-Luc Nancy, Michel Maffesoli, 1998: Nice
book on the effect of the techno revolution in a political context.
