I just bought a Sony MZ-N1, it has adjustable record levels while recording,
you can set it to record automatically from the end of the MD (not where you
last stopped playing) and most importantly of all, it doesn't feature the
annoying fault of the MZ-R55 where it started recording all by itself
whenever it happened to feel like it. Now THAT was REALLY what you don't
need.

Apart from that the N1 is nice, easier to use, and quiet. But to be honest,
I'd still like a pro-recording model which was a little bigger. Oh, the
other downer is that the mp3 player in the N1 doesn't work with a mac.

Maybe one day Apple will put an audio in and record function on an iPod.
That would be very cool.
