I think printer music probably has a longer history then we think of. For example Dutch Paul Panhuysen recorded in 1992 a CD titled "Engines in Power and Love (Music performed by 5 Matrix Computer Printers)".
Not to mention Erik Satie's use of a typewriter in the 20's.
