HAZARD is B. J. Nilsen, who was born in Nykping, Sweden in the
mid-seventies. He began to take an interest in sound recordings and its
possibilities at an early age and was strongly influenced by the pioneers of
sonic (mis)behavior. He recorded his first record at the age of fifteen for
a now long-defunct project called Morthund. Nilsen founded Hazard in 1995
after a couple years in local ear-peaking guitar bands. He has since been
taking more and more interest in extreme weather conditions and their effect
on humans; field recordings; and the perception of time and space as
experienced through sound. Hazard is currently working on a new
collaboration with Chris Watson for live and recorded work, and on a project
mapping the acoustic environment in and underneath the modern city and an
infrasound installation.

LARY 7 is a member of Analogue Society and Plastikville. A resident of New
York City, his performances consist of a partially improvised, non-haptic
totally live event incorporating all manner of limitations, imperfections
and failures where the accident is a hidden intention. The instrument or
system is comprised of electro-mechanical apparati incorporating the
interaction between acoustics and light energy, thus utilizing a visual
element.

ASH INTERNATIONAL is MSC Harding, who founded the Touch record label in 1981
with designer and photographer, Jon Wozencraft. Since then, the label has
published an extraordinarily diverse catalogue of records by musicians such
as Rafael Toral, the Hafler Trio, Biosphere, Hazard, Pita, Chris Watson,
Sandoz, and Philip Jeck (to name but a few). In 1993, Harding started Ash
International (initially with Robin Rimbaud a.k.a. Scanner). EST perhaps
best described Ash Int.: "A label somewhere in the gap between
post-industrial and techno, with releases ranging from the notorious
(Scanner) to the relatively accessible (S.E.T.I., Aurobindo) to the
hopelessly idiosyncratic (Runaway Train, Mesmer)."
