sound and dramaturgy/theater/performance
hi all,
i've been monitoring this list for the last year; time to introduce myself.
i'm a sound designer/laptopmusician for projects in
theater/dance/performance in Belgium. next to that, i'm also starting up
research on sound in theatre or "theatrical environments" (univ. of
antwerp, performance studies). i conduct research on the relationship
between machinemade sound (electroacoustic, electronic) and the
dramaturgy in which it functions in performances.
inspired by Cascone's text on the "aesthetics of failure" (amongst other
things) i'm especially intrigued by how and why 'the tools' of
electronic music are used in function of a specific set of concepts in a
dramaturgy/ performance.
people relating to this sort of stuff are welcome to contact me off-list
(tips on existing research, performance-related sound
designers/musicians,...)
feedback on my idea of microsound music is also well appreciated -
