Hi

I'm delurking, so first an introduction. I'm Paul Sanders, one of the founders of state51 here in the UK. These days I'm more of a businessman and supporter than a creator.

Back on topic, Nicola mentioned Max Eastley - we give him the use of a workshop in my factory in London. Somewhere around we have a wonderful video documenting a work on a beach, with the wind humming and buzzing through many aolian harps. It's both restful and disturbing at the same time.

In David Toop's 'Buried Dreams' I seem to remember an instrument called a bull roarer, some kind of pierced gourd swung around the head on a strap. A primal and somewhat eerie sound.

For a stolen noise experience I occasionally go to the top of Parliament Hill in Hampstead, North London, on a very windy day when the kites are flying. If you go down the hill a bit to the North the voices of the sightseers are muted, and you can hear the edges of the tired ripstop buzz an aolian symphony...

Cheerio

Paul
