a friend of mine got one of these about two months ago, and we spent a
great deal of time playing with it on different surfaces, etc.

yes, the resonant material makes of course a HUGE difference.

also, oddly, orientation of the device relative to the rubber suction ring
(which rotates) has a great impact on timbre, volume, and general
reproduction quality.

so. tho we found it disappointing as an audio-out device for listening,
for art it is definitely a fun thing. i look forward to the sounds of
people breaking it in lots of cool and different ways =)
