New UTS Postgrad Subject: Installation & Exhibition

From 2003, Graduate Diploma Students in Media Arts and Production (MAP) at The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) will have the opportunity to take a new subject: Installation & Exhibition.

An initiative of the Sound and New Media areas of MAP, 'Installation and
Exhibition' will develop skills for sound and new media artists. It explores
the aesthetics and techniques for a range of settings including art galleries,
museums, public spaces and other cultural settings.

Students will have access to computers with Max/MSP/Jitter, ProTools and
other software, I-Cube interfaces with sensors, mutlichannel sound playback,
and facilities including a performance space and sound studios.

The lecturer(s) for this subject have yet to be confirmed, however MAP currently
has several staff with professional experience in this area, including Damian Castaldi,
Megan Heyward, Mike Leggett, Wade Marynowski, Norie Neumark, and Shannon
O'Neill. There will also be guest lecturers and (tbc) an artist-in-residence program.

Although the first round of applications has already closed, there is a second
round on December 13, and a third round on January 31 (subject to availability
of places).
