OK...
I've haven't seen the commercial in question... (probably 
because i don't  watch TV) but why would anybody get irritated 
by a 15 second piece of marketing?!  people who look to 
commercials for culture (or anything on tv for reliable 
information, in my humble opinion) wants to be led around like 
a sheep. forget about 'em.  go read a book, grab some 
headphones, or do something (anything!) creative and/or 
requires imagination. 

but this is getting a bit off topic, so...

here's my ascii impersonation of a techno song:

.. . . . . . . . .'.'.'.'.'.'.'/ / / /.'.".'.".'.".'."/ / / /

and the snare/clap sound comes in on the 2&4 and it's like:

..':'.':'.':'.':'/ / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /  etc...

that last part with the /s is where they do the sample loop solo
for four to eight times as long,  to "build up tension"

any suggestions on how to do a "snare roll"?
