Re: [microsound] deathmetal & grindcore
funnily enough i caught myself frequently thinking of early grindcore
recently, i reckon it was a great experimental music style at the time. it
was fun (and reasonably difficult) to play too and of course not everone was
into the whole satan crap. makes perfect sense that some of the old
grindcore freaks these days reappear in advanced electronic music like dave
phillips (fear of god) and james plotkin (o.l.d.).
you may know that grindcore was a total underground genre and existed
through tapetrading more than anything (this is before death metal made the
big move). out of all the shit that was around, i still believe it was the
coolest thing that could have happened to me when i was 16.
i'm happy to participate in reworking and also to provide samples from 7"
singles of one of my bands from the early nineties.
only - what do we do with the results?
jochen
ps. this is not 100% off-topic because some of the "underground scene"
values are very similar to microsound and in both cases the music is not
easy to understand for people outside the scene.
well.
let's say it's only 98% off topic.
