not really sure.
everything would end up to some basic rules:

practise as much -> learn your effects

try to slightly separate stuff frequency-wise (in the spectral field) before
mixing so you get a tighter mix afterwards;

in the end, apply some overall eq then multiband compression, then limit the
master to make it compete with other cds.

don't overdo compression

do not trust flat response monitors 100%

trust your ears

sleep then trust your ears again

listen everywhere, esp. car + don't neglect multimedia speakers & boomboxes.
