But is it a bad thing that he gets more people interested in art than
almost any other artist?

Be pragmatic, while he's not going to impress those friends who prefer
works by artists who are only comprehended by a very select group and
have critical essays by only the "right" authors, Dali's not likely to
fall any more or less in favor next season, so you won't have to keep
buying those new books and hiding last season's so "over with" or too
many people are into whatever it is now ones.
