re: microsound book group?
dear list & kim,
-- . yes, worth giving it a shot.
I'd recommend a chatroom, however, or a posting board of some kind w/
attached chatroom. I haven't checked out the soulseek venue.
The s/n ratio of an alternative book.microsound email list might be a little
too much pragmatically unless it was approached like an early nettime
project, which would require a vigilance on the part of all in keeping posts
less conversational and more essayist (less dialogue, more monologue
procreation & critique).
As for the titles, I'd like to reread the Attali. Kahn's take is more
historical, leaving not as much for discussion save the slant itself in a
highly critical undertaking upon Kahn's perspective or a sort of
re-encounter with the ideas of the progenitors under the microscope.
This also might be a good forum to post essays to. I know Kim is always
writing, and so are others out there (Bill Ashline etc); if we can expect a
critical & serious response, this might be a good place to test out draft
copies. So far I have hestitated doing so w/ .microsound because the list is
founded in a more dialogue based, conversational format.
For those not familiar with the monologue model, see:
