OK OK.. your comment is a cute one :) ; I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but
here's my reply...
Yeah, it most definitely isn't; neither is my toothbrush. However, there is
much more plastic, cardboard, and aluminum in my CD and vinyl collection than
in my computer. I frequently dispose of shrinkwrapping, broken jewelcases,
water-damaged vinyl and sleeves, excessively scratched disks, useless
promotional material, and similar media waste. I have only thrown away one
computer; that was a TI-994A destroyed at a conference for show. All the other
computers I have ever purchased are still in use (including a Mac SE alarm
clock in my ex-roommate's apartment in New York). There also aren't viable
alternatives to computing (other than not computing), but there are very viable
alternatives to purchasing physical media.
