new devslashnull release :: poppy :: on commtomdotcom

During an "evening of acousmatic pop," devslashnull composed and debuted his
most recent work, "poppy," as part of the sonicPOP series at the Museum of
Contemporary Art, Denver, on November 21, 2002. The collection of 7 short
songs have now been released as MP3s on the Communications of Tomorrow
label. In the spirit of sonicPOP, each song explores a different aspect of
what it means to be "pop". Moments of abstraction, political spinspeak,
hooks, and melodies mesh to form a very solid collection.

The live performance included interplay between audio and video via custom
Jitter patches programmed by Brian Kane, making "poppy" a natural extension
of devslashnull and Kane's previous collaborations as OVNI (along with Brian
Comerford) and on Moonshine Music's Spaced Out DVD and Addictive
Television's Mixmasters 2 Series. The video featured during the sonicPOP
performance will be released on commtom in the near future. Meanwhile,
"poppy" is available for download at
