The program aims to support international business relations between like
minded music business entrepreneurs. The program's participants are beyond
internship level.S1E's Managing Director Jean Nicolas Dupere says "we are
working with the strategy of forging international business activity for
Canada's electronic music entrepreneurs who come from the globally minded,
technologically savvy generation of young Canadian entrepreneurs".
The importance of preparing Canadian cultural workers for the global market
was recently highlighted in Face of the Future A Study Of Human Resource
Issues a report managed by Canada's Cultural Human Resources Council "The
presence and reach of the Canadian cultural industry abroad is vital to its
survival in a global market that is becoming more and more open and
competitive.
Our organizations, businesses and their human resources must increasingly
deal with international partners (in Canada and abroad) to ensure the
permanence and continued growth of the sector. In this context, the need for
training in international marketing has become apparent for all cultural
workers (creators, performers, managers, producers, distributors, etc.). "
S1E's overall strategy is to open and expand international markets for the
Canadian electronic sound recording industry. We are dedicated to 1)
developing economic infrastructure for artists and enterprises working
within Canada's electronic music industry, and toward 2) branding Canadian
electronic/urban music globally.
We are currently developing a national non-profit association, the
Association for Electronic Music [Aemusic], with the mandate of facilitating
business development for those companies involved in the production, sale
and distribution of Canadian electronic music.
S1E has also organized trade missions for Canadian electronic music
professionals to Popkomm, Germany, Sound Summit, Australia, In the City,
U.K., and Midem, France.
