Techno: Detroit's Gift to the World

Now Open!

January 2003 =96 June 2004
Detroit Historical Museum's Stark Hall

History is often thought of as a series of events that occurred a very=20=

long time ago. The truth is, history is also what happened yesterday,=20
five minutes ago, and in fact, today's events will be tomorrow's=20
history. With this in mind the Detroit Historical Museum has partnered=20=

with the originators of Techno to share the story of their music. This=20=

groundbreaking exhibit will trace Techno's early beginning from its=20
Detroit roots to its emergence as a global sensation.
An ambitious new exhibit =96 the world=92s first on the subject -- that=20=

celebrates a style of music born in Detroit that has kept the world=20
dancing for more than 20 years.

Learn the straight story of how Juan Atkins, Eddie Fowlkes, Derrick May=20=

and Kevin Saunderson, four young men from metro Detroit, created and=20
developed this electronic style of dance music and trace its early=20
beginnings from local Detroit clubs to its emergence as a global=20
sensation.

Also- There are many beautiful sights at the Detroit Institute of the=20
Arts
