I am pleased to announce a new concert series, Quiet., featuring various
forms of quiet music in an intimate setting. Inspired in part by the
successful "Day of Attention" series organized by Josh Russell, Quiet
will showcase artists from Southern California and elsewhere in an
environment that fosters attentive listening.

Steve Roden is a visual and sound artist from Los Angeles. His work
includes painting, drawing, sculpture, films, and sound installation.
The sound works are presented with an aesthetic Roden describes as
"lowercase"--a sound that is concerned with subtlety and the quiet
activity of listening. His visual and sound works have been exhibited in
museums, galleries and arts spaces internationally. Recent performances
include MIT in Boston, and the MCASD in San Diego.

Jeffrey Roden is a bassist/composer from Los Angeles. His music focuses
on the electric bass as a solo and melodic voice. His quiet, reflective
compositions are infused with bursts of improvised solos. He has
released several CDs on the Big Tree Music label--all of which have
received airplay on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic. His work has
received international press, and he has performed at various venues and
festivals, including the Beyond Music Festival of Experimental Music and
the first Day of Attention.

Glenn Bach is a writer, visual artist, and sound artist who maps the
sonic terrain of the landscape. Encompassing the act of walking, his
work engages in a poetic dialogue between text, photography, and sound
collage. His audio works have appeared in several compilations and
remix projects, including a four-track EP forthcoming on the Stasisfield
label (www.stasisfield.com) in April, 2003. He has performed his work
in solo appearances and in improvised group arrangements, including a
recent appearance at Sound/Shift Oakland, and upcoming performances this
summer at the Big Sur Experimental Music Festival and the CPEACH Summer
Series in Eureka, California.
