Synthetic Waste
Synthetic Waste is a Danish diy cdr/vinyl label, releasing experimental =
and minimal electronic music, of the finest quality. Because of the fact =
that the label is managed by two schoolboys, and the guy who runs the =
mother label of Synthetic Waste, the speed of Synthetic Waste releases =
might not be extreme, but worth the wait.
Kasper Bolding Rasmussen, as a sub-label of his other label Pale_Mother =
Recordings, established Synthetic Waste in 2002. The plan for Synthetic =
Waste was to release music in the microsound, clicks'n'cuts, sinewaves, =
microglitches area, but despite of that, some of the releases planned =
for the label was in genres such as idm and minimal dub. One of the =
artists releasing on the label, .dos, the two Danish youngsters Lasse =
Bj=F8rck Volkmann and Nicolai Vesterk=E6r Krog, was in early 2003, when =
only one release from the label was out, asked to help Kasper, since his =
other label had expanded and things were getting too hectic.
Since then the area of genres on Synthetic Waste has gotten dubbier, but =
still releasing the earlier made criteria. Despite of this, the plan is =
still simply to not just go by the genres, but simply release fantastic =
and unique music, from experimental electronic artists from around the =
world.
.dos
.dos is a Danish band, consisting of the two young members Lasse =
Bj=F8rck Volkmann and Nicolai Vesterk=E6r Krog.
Lasse and Nicolai met each other when they were both 9 years old, and =
already at that age, they started growing into the same musical =
interests.
When both boys were 13 years old, they got their hands on the extremely =
low-price and low-quality software Dance eJay. This turned into two =
solo-projects, Lasse's Ernst Wiraam and Nicolai's Nikolaj Krogh, and the =
boys' joint project Palindrome. All projects where idm-inspired noise.
The Palindrome project went on for about a year, and both Nicolai and =
Lasse, with in a short time, went online. This resulted in both guys =
finding out how easy accessible professional software is on the net. All =
crappy software was trashed, and the guys started learning some more =
professional software.
After learning how to use this, the guys started working on actual =
idm-music, which only with one done track, caught the ears of =
labelbosses of labels such as Illmatik Vibes and Centuries Records. That =
was also when the project name was changed to .dos.
Even though the boys were quite happy with the result of their =
idm-experiments, they were confused, whether idm was really the right =
kind of music for them to make or not. After some time of thinking, they =
started working on some more clicks'n'cuts/minimal dub-oriented music.
The solo-projects of Nicolai and Lasse, is now under the monikers Vstrkr =
and Vielepist, making music somewhat like .dos, but still very much =
going into separate directions. Nicolai as Vstrkr in the more minimal =
and noisier area, and Lasse as Vielepist more rhythm and structure =
oriented music.
The new music from .dos caught the ears of labelboss of Danish =
Pale_Mother Recordings, Kasper Bolding Rasmussen, in late 2002, and .dos =
was almost immediately asked to release a 3" cdr on the brand new =
sub-label of Pale_Mother, Synthetic Waste. This was an offer, which they =
accepted. Early 2003 the boys became part of the Synthetic Waste-crew =
and now launching was003, the debut 3" cdr from .dos.
