WAKE UP AND LISTEN

Acclaimed for their experimental, improvised radio shows over
the past 12 years on 2MBS-FM, WUAL live is always unpredictable.
Expect anything from electro to electroacoustics.

The duo of Shannon O'Neill and Adrian Bertram have worked in almost
all areas of sound: Bertram is an accomplished classical clarinettist,
with a huge collection of analogue synthesizers; O'Neill has worked
in film and new media, and is currently lecturing in Media Arts and
Production at the University of Technology, Sydney.

JULIAN KNOWLES

Julian Knowles is a composer/perfomer and audio artist working with
new and emerging technologies. His work spans the fields of computer
music, sound art, new media arts, experimental music, spatial and 5.1
audio, independent pop music, record production and audio engineering,
sound design and film soundtrack. His practice draws heavily on the
transformation of location audio and is informed by film sound practices,
electro-acoustic, acousmatic and concrete musics and contemporary
popular music production techniques, resulting in a personalised sonic
language which is exploratory, yet recognises its roots in established
forms. It challenges the arbitrary distinctions between sound, noise and
music and attempts to reveal the inherent musicality in location audio
and language. In the early 90s, Julian joined the critically acclaimed
experimental audio arts group Social Interiors and continues to release
work under this name, both in collaboration with the other members
(Shane Fahey and Rik Rue) and as a solo artist. Julian is Head of the
School of Contemporary Arts at the University of Western Sydney.

ANON

Debut performance by Anon, otherwise known as Ben Byrne (UTS Media
Arts student and 2SER broadcaster). Ben will be performing live and semi-
improvised from laptop, combining plundered and deconstructed sounds
with digital tones and sonic mishaps.
