great music from japan

ocarina - rev-node compilation vol.3 (2001)

another great release from japan, from a label called
rev-node: http://hello.to/rev-node/
they have a compilation with completely unknown
japanese artists, it's called 'ocarina'. all 6 tracks
are from 4 artists: procue-to, colored carp ensemble,
command z and noun (that's ju muraoka - the label
owner - and toshiyuki fujii).

there is no some obvious concept for this compilation.
the tracks from colored carp ensemble are very much
chilled out, they sound like
chill-out-lounge-post-rock - and extremelly relaxed,
calm and bright, in a manual or pub way. all other
tracks are experimental in their own way, but what is
common for all of them is the same sense of tameness.
many times the music on this compilation is
experimental like pimmon or pita, but extremelly calm
and very smooth at the same time. you can play this cd
as background cutting-edge music. definitely one of
the best compilations i've heard recently and ever, be
sure to check it out if you have a chance sometime!
