Re: [microsound] [964 Natoma SF CA USA] May 24: Field Effects 11

A friend of mine just hooked me up with the Thuja "Suns" cd, really great
totally acustic stuff, so good to hear things that are not imprisoned in the
world of programs like Live or Reacktor. Also have had the chance to hear
Animal Collective, and Campfire Songs, both great. Also Tarentel is become
one of my favs, really looking forward to hearing what they do with Stephan.
And finally the new Tim Hecker on MP is great, along the same lines as
above. Oh yea, this stuff I have been listening to called "Set fire to
Flames" is awesome.

For those on a more adventours listening bent (totally not microsound), I
highly recommend Lightning Bolt, one of the most intense two person act's
ever, period. Just watch the "Power of Salad" DVD for a better
understanding. Actually I think a lot of people one this list would be into
them, the bass player is so creative it is just to much. The drummer is
totally amazing, they really make music that is creative and intense, might
be way to much for the ultra-minimal on this list, but for those who like
controlled noise, totally check them out, there is a lot more happening than
just a simple math rock band. I think they are probably the biggest thing
out there on the underground american scene, appernetly they totally blew
sonic youth off the stage at irving plaza recently, and they where on the
floor.
