Miies [was] Alternative performance devices
I once attended a Larry Coryell show in Atlanta (at the Great Southeast
Music Hall)
Miles was going to / showed up at the door - and didn't / left, I was told
he said "too many white people," but the apocryphal nature of this story
leads me to question it today. At the time I thought: he's right.
there are audiences and the are audiences, seriously. A bunch of people,
white or not, looking for hot fusion action, would've ticked of a person
trying for nuance and depth in his live performance. I really like it when
the performer ignores the audience and sweats the music - it translates.
In minimalist versions of microsoundy music, I would think this would
apply, not always but often. The politics of performing is a different
matter.
But isn't it also situational?
btw nice review(s) of Mutek Tobias
