the tough thing about "schools" is that there are there
to make money. You'll spend a lot of money attending
the school. Get a diploma. walk out and have no job.
The market is flooded with students, and there is not
much work anymore as everyone can do their own engineering
at home (or at least they think they can and won't pay
anyone to do it).

How many people on this list have ever paid an audio engineer?

Your much better of getting "skooled" yerself by assisting for
a studio/producer/engineer already working in a field that you
want to be working in. Also the contacts you'll make will further
you being able to get work....plus you won't be $12k in the hole.

Search around for local programs/courses on ProTools, engineering,
mixing that kind of thing. Get a taste of it first, on the cheap
side.

good luck to the friend
