I don't know where you're getting your prices but at audiomidi.com the 
multiface with the pcmia card is $999 and the metric halo (MIO 2882) is 
$1299.  I believe if you want to use the multiface on a laptop & desktop you 
have to buy the cardbus & pci cards which is $1199.  The metric halo doesn't 
need the separate cards since it uses firewire.  Plus it has 8 preamps but 
no MIDI and some features like ADAT support I think may still be a bit 
buggy.  The mh-labs mio is a lot bigger too but it's cool because it fits 
right beneath a titanium g4 which to me is more convienient than a smaller 
separate box.
