Illegal Art: Freedom of Expression in the Corporate Age opens in the Bay
Area after successful exhibitions in NY and Chicago. As the Bay Area has
some great artists, musicians, and other media artists, this show has been
expanded for it's arrival in town.
These concerts have been arranged to give audiences a taste of a various
approaches to music-making all of which use audio materials from other
sound sources. Some of these artist operate in the realm of music, others
in sound collage, and in a few cases, even in multimedia collage. The
performances will range from explicit appropriation (i.e. readily
recognizable audio elements formed into new patterns), to humorous cut-ups,
to directly political assaults, to abstract soundscapes.
