Well, if you have OS X with X11 and the requirements listed on the website are available for OS X it should work out OK. A lot of linux apps work and compile on OS X but sometimes you have to hack them a bit. If you can't do it yourself you can always ask the developers and they usually are very helpful because they, of course, want as many people as possible in the boat. But sometimes, in some tricky cases, you will have to spend some time with the guy, emailing back and forth to get a thing working. But it's worth the effort.
