The third volume of The Allegorical Power series is now available via the
Antiopic website (http://www.antiopic.com). The Allegorical Power series is an
ongoing collection of freely downloadable audio meant to address the
possibilities of abstract or experimental music as social and political
critique, and offer a forum for sound artists to question and protest.
Curated and with an accompanying essay by sigma editions' Dion Workman, this
release features 28 minutes 58 seconds of audio contributions from:
- Okkyung Lee
- Raz Mesinai
- Rosy Parlane
- Toshio Kajiwara
- Julien Ottavi
- Tim Barnes and David Daniell
The previous releases in the series (June 2003 / July 2003) continue to be
available on the Antiopic site; the next release will be 1 September.

subtly aggressive digital minimalism. The piece was awarded the Max Brand

JULIEN OTTAVI: NERVURE MAGNETIQUE (sigma011)
Julien Ottavi is a composer of computer music based in Nantes, France. Drawing
on the traditions of musique concrete and contemporary 'noise' music Ottavi
creates intense and dynamic sound worlds that challenge the aesthetic niceties
of much contemporary electronic music. Aside from his solo work Ottavi
regularly collaborates on projects with Keith Rowe, Jerome Noetinger, Erik M,
Christophe Harvard and others. Nervure Magnetique is his first solo release.
