framework - phonography/field recording; contextual and decontextualized =
sound activity
presented by patrick mcginley

this edition was held together with a web of vlf (very low frequency) =
recordings from the second 'collection of earth's mysterious natural vlf =
radio phenomena' released by stephen p. mcgreevy. these are the =
stunning documents of earth's natural radio frequencies captured by =
mcgreevy's custom-built receivers - amazingly organic whistles, hums, =
crackles, rhythms, tones and drones. amongst this web were interweaved =
sounds by german composer and radio artist michael ruesenberg, steve =
roden, brandon labelle, and more, all set off with a framework intro =
recorded for us by one of our current favorite field recordists, toby =
paddock.

coming up in a few weeks time framework will be hosting a special live =
appearance by norwegian musicians tore honore boe and michael duch, both =
solo and in their duo incarnation as tacet ncv (and performing some live =
experiments with yours truly as well). this will take place during the =
clearspot slot (7:00-8:30pm) immediately preceding our usual slot on =
august 22nd, hence a special 2 1/2 hour framework! tore and michael =
will also be playing several gigs in london in the few days following =
their radio appearance - at sound 323, the bonnington centre and the hat =
on wall gallery (where i will join them as well); i will send those =
dates and details soon.

finally, thanks to all of you who came down to the first annual =
london.placard headphone festival - it was a greater success than any of =
us could have imagined, and we will definitely be doing it again!

this friday's edition will feature new work by jonathan coleclough, =
chris watson, osso exotico and more; hope you can tune in!

again, we are always looking for material for the show, whether raw =
field recordings, field recording based composition or submissions for =
our ongoing series of introductions (details below). send material, =
released or not, on any format, to the address below. we are also =
hoping to have live performances as often as possible, so if you are in =
or passing through london please get in touch!=20
