Well, that's what I meant when I said that he was being polemic to make a
point--the "hip hop creates nothing" bit.  The subtle and complex is the
rest of the article as well as his other writings.  For me, there are
areas of agreement and disagreement with McWhorter, but my point in
writing what I did is that hysterical ad hominem attacks on the author are
not furthering the discussion.
