This is _not_ true with all Macs. Most macs (and powerbooks) will only boot
from OS X. Currently, the 15 inch powerbook is still bootable under OS 9,
but the 12" and 17", as well as all the iBooks will only boot under OS X.
There are also a couple G4 towers that can boot into 9, but none of the
newer iMacs can.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY NOT TRUE. You absolutely could _not_ run OS7 or
OS8 on ANY mac G4.

If you are buying a brand new Mac, check the apple site to see if it's
bootable under OS 9. If you're buying a used Mac that's at least a year old,
you're probably safe, but you should still definitely research that question
if you absolutely need to boot into OS 9.
